Saturday Night Takeaway

Since its premiere on 8 June 2002, ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ features a mix of comedy sketches, celebrity guests, live music performances, and interactive games with the studio audience and viewers at home. Famously known for its high-energy and light-hearted entertainment, it’s a staple favourite among viewers across the UK.

Gallowglass event crew in London were tasked with supporting Video Screen Services (VSS) at Television Centre, White City, with the weekly installation of LED video screens across the entire set.

A total of 18 different crew were utilised in teams of six over the course of 9 weeks, collectively working almost 500 hours at the studios. Gallowglass crew chief Marwan Zeghbib from London said “It was great to be back behind the scenes on this exciting show and watch it all come together again. The screens that we install have a pivotal part to play in front, behind and either side of the audience during the show.”

Marwan continues “From the moment we arrive on site, we become an extension of the client, understand the technology and equipment we’re handling, and seamlessly integrating with their team. Everyone knows what they need to do, we know what part is required next, which flight case goes where and we get it done safely and efficiently every time. Then when we come back to derig everything, we’re called 30 minutes before the show ends, and get to enjoy the end of the show live.
