London is one of the best cities in the world to host an event. Whether this is a large scale exhibition, an exclusive awards ceremony or something in between, London’s catalogue of venues will have something to suit all preferences. Many of the capital’s venues are historic structures, such as the Royal Albert Hall or Hampton Court Palace. However, over the last few years, we have seen a number of new and exciting venues sprout up. This continued surge demonstrates that there is still a thriving events industry within the UK, as London plays host to a range of national and international events.
Here, we’ll be taking a look at the newest and brightest venues that have opened in London this year.
Tonight Josephine Shoreditch
After the success of their Waterloo location, the team behind Tonight Josephine have opened their second location. The venue opened in January of this year and has become known among the local Instagram users for its bright neon sign stating that ‘well behaved women don’t make history’. The location offers full private venue hire and can work well for themed events.
Events @ No 6
Having taken two years to create, this location comes with a range of meeting rooms with a total capacity of over 200 people. Whether you’re looking to host a personal or corporate event, the venue has a team of dedicated staff that can ensure your event goes off without a hitch. The venue is built into the building which houses the Royal College of Pathologists and is easily accessible from public transport.
W12 Studios
After opening in February, W12 studios offers a rotating selection of food and drink, as they constantly update their menu. During the week, the venue is open for drinks and dinner, along with a bursting calendar of live music. However, during the weekends, the venue closes to the public and becomes available for private hire. Whether you’re looking for a large corporate gathering or something a little different, W12 studios could be the place for you.
Illuminate
Located on the fourth and fifth floors of the Science Museum, this new space opened in February and is an exciting new entry into London’s venue offering. The event space is entirely multifunctional, allowing you to set up in any way you wish. Product launches, awards ceremonies and gala dinners will all likely be held here, as the fifth floor offers outstanding views across the city.
Magazine London
A brand new event space, purposely built as a blank canvas for those who want to create something truly unique. The space is split into six main areas, each offering something different. The largest indoors location is Space 2, which has an overall capacity of 3,000 people and would suit product launches, dinners, exhibitions and brand events perfectly. There is also an outdoor location called The Showground, capable of holding roughly 7,000 people. The venue only opened in September so it is super fresh and will no doubt become a centrepiece of the city’s event structure.
Dock X
Having opened at the start of the year, Dock X is a brand new event space in south-east London. The space has a modest maximum capacity of 1,500 people and can cater to anything from sit down awards to product launches or concerts. So far this year, the venue has seen a large variety of events taking place, and will also be holding a range of Christmas events during the holiday season. The location also means it has great transport links, which means that getting to and from the venue is a breeze.
