As well as being the capital city, London is also renowned for being the events capital of the UK and for good reason too. Not only does this vibrant metropolis play host to a wide array of events ranging from business conferences and product launches to art exhibitions and live music performances, but the selection of venues offered here is phenomenal with the choice continuing to grow year on year. To ensure you can get excited about some of the most anticipated openings over the next few years, we’re sharing just a few of the new London venues planned to open by 2021:
Illuminate
Last month, one of London’s most popular educational attractions unveiled a stunning new event venue in the form of Illuminate, a multi-functional space located on level five of the Science Museum. While the museum’s fascinating array of exhibitions and galleries already make unique backdrops for a variety of proceedings previously held here, Illuminate will provide a space that is purely dedicated to events with an even more enthralling view of the city thanks to its huge panoramic window! A sure-to-be hotspot for conferences, product launches and talks.
Magazine London
On September 1st, this contemporary new event space will be opening on the Greenwich Peninsula and boasts a slick and stylish industrial design that is sure to fit in perfectly with the surrounding urban landscape. With an indoor capacity of 3,000 and an outdoor capacity of 4,000, Magazine London offers a versatile space that can cater for a large number of attendees, so will tick the boxes for many in search of a new and innovative venue in the heart of the capital. Venue Lab (the creators of Magazine London) is teaming up with award-winning catering company Moving Venue to provide a stunning unveil for the venue’s opening, which we anticipate will be just as sophisticated as its design!
Exhibition
As part of a staggering £600 million expansion project, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has teamed up with venue operators Broadwick Venues to build an exciting new space dedicated entirely to events. For shoppers, ‘Exhibition’ – the brand-new 34,000sq ft venue - will serve to enhance their experience of visiting the iconic West London shopping centre by providing the opportunity to enjoy far more than just a browse around the shops.
As well as having a total standing capacity of 3,000, the renovated grade II listed building will also consist of two floors that will feature a multiplicity of rooms along with a selection of relaxation areas where shoppers can go to enjoy some time out. With work on the site beginning last month, we can expect to see this innovative new venue open by the end of the year!
Outernet London
A project that will see a selection of new venues including broadcasting and media facilities, bars, restaurants, offices and flats open as part of a sophisticated new complex in 2020. One of the largest spaces inside Outernet London will be a brand-new music venue, which will boast a capacity of 2,000, making it a welcome addition to the city’s music scene. Located across from Tottenham Court Road Underground station, the design of the “cultural amphitheatre”, as it has been described, will be inspired by Soho’s vibrant array of past and present music venues such as Madame Jojo’s, The Astoria and Tin Pan Alley.
The Event Box
Following the unveiling of their glass elevator late last year, Battersea Power Station has also announced their plans to create a fantastic new event space in the form of The Event Box, which will be open to visitors from 2021. Whilst this won’t be London’s largest new venue with a small capacity of 1,500, the range of events that can be held here will undoubtedly be a selling point for potential clients with everything from conferences and dinners to fashion shows and music events on offer.
Additionally, The Event Box will also house a space called Control Room A, which will boast a stunning 1930s Art Deco interior along with an impressive view enabled by balconies and bay windows that will look out onto the grand Turbine Hall. With an intimate capacity of just 250, this space could be used for a number of exclusive events as a separate venue or as part of The Event Box.
While these are just some of the stunning new venues that will be opening in London over the next few years, there are plans for plenty more to be unveiled.
